| Howells LLP has welcomed three new members into the partnership.
Newly recruited to the firm is Chris Wong, a highly experienced criminal defence lawyer who joins Howells from Grayson Wills Bennett, where he was responsible for securing their VHCC contract which allowed them to deal with larger scale and more serious fraud cases. A law graduate from Leeds University, Chris began his legal career at Irwin Mitchell in 1990. Over the last two decades, he has built up a wealth of experience in dealing with many serious crime cases, including murder, importation of drugs, high value frauds and gang-related incidents. “I was delighted to have the opportunity to become a partner at Howells,” said Chris. “The firm has the reputation and contacts to attract the kind of complex and difficult crime cases that I am keen to work on, as well as a progressive attitude to ensuring access to justice for all, and I am looking forward to making a strong contribution to the already highly successful crime team.” Also joining Chris as partners are Sarah Walker, legal director of the firm’s recently opened Barnsley office, and Lindsey Rawson, who heads up Howells’ social welfare law department, dealing with legal problems around housing, employment, welfare benefits and debt. Both Sarah and Lindsey have been with the firm for several years and have been promoted to the partnership in recognition of their important contribution to Howells’ success. According to Sarah, she sees the firm going from strength to strength. “The Barnsley office is already very busy after less than a year in business and we know there’ll always be a demand for the kind of high quality professional legal advice that Howells offers. I feel that clients particularly value the fact that we can advise on all sorts of legal problems – from divorce and separation, through to housing and employment issues – and can be confident that we’ve got experts in most areas of law.”
