The release of Chambers UK 2013 once again sees Howells Solicitors maintaining excellent rankings as one of the top law firms in the UK.
The lawyer’s directory again recognises Howells Crime and Immigration teams as top tier firms, with praise also going to Howells work in Civil Liberties, Human Rights and Police Law.
As one of the largest firms in the region, Howells Crime department is the number one firm in Sheffield and the surrounding areas. Howells is quoted as a firm who “handles work of nationwide importance” and who “every client is looked after properly and individually. The firm goes to the nth degree to give a good service”. Head of the Crime department, Danny Simpson is named as a leading individual in the area and retains his top ranking, with Chris Davey also being praised for her work in the Criminal Defence Team.
The Immigration department has also maintained its top ranking, with the Chambers UK highlighting “their highly rated work in the tribunal and before the Administrative Court. Spousal and family applications and asylum-related work are key areas”. With a new entry in the lawyer’s bible, Immigration Solicitor Nadeem Ahmad is personally recognised as a top ranking individual and is noted for “his work on complex, demanding appeals against the Secretary of State”.
Peter Mahy the firm’s Managing Partner and Head of the Civil Liberties team remains highly ranked throughout the whole of the UK in Police, Administrative and Public Law as well as Civil Liberties and Human Rights. Chambers say “Peter Mahy has stellar reputation for his work representing claimants”. Clinical Negligence Solicitor Michelle Gyte is also noted as an ‘Associate to Watch’.
