A Howells client accepted compensation of £16000 as a settlement for her Employment Tribunal claim against her former employer, just before the start of her 4 day hearing at Hull Employment Tribunal.
After 9 years service, our client held a position of responsibility within the company and had a clean disciplinary record. The client who suffered from a mental health condition for several years had been advised by her medical professionals to talk to people about her feelings as a way of coping. In May 2011, after experiencing panic attacks at work, the client followed this medical advice and confided in a colleague. As a result of this, our client was dismissed for gross misconduct. Her employer failed to give any consideration to our client’s mental health condition when deciding to dismiss her and failed to make any reasonable adjustments for her.
Solicitor Tom Bernard said “To reach a settlement of £16,000, on the first day of a 4 day Employment Tribunal hearing was a great result for our client who was delighted with the outcome and the settlement she received.”
