Two members of Howells staff donned their sequins and dancing shoes to waltz their way to raising over £3000 for charity [email protected].
Taking part in the charities annual ‘Not So Strictly Come Dancing’ competition, Howells staff Ann Ridge (Legal Exec) and Julie Murray (Receptionist) partnered up with local business men Craig Bisley and Michael Davies in a fundraising event themed around the popular TV show Strictly Come Dancing.
Volunteers with no dancing experience were partnered up into twelve couples, and given 12 weeks training from Judith Bennett from the City Limits Dance Centre. Judith’s own son, Darren Bennett was previously a dancer on the TV show. Each couple learnt 2 dances, the jive and the waltz, to perform in front of the crowd at the live event.
Together, Ann and partner Craig and Julie and her partner Michael managed to raise over £3000 in fundraising activities on the lead-up to the event, including organising cake-bakes, a special ‘wear blue for [email protected]’ day and by collecting sponsorship.
As support for their staff and their charity of the year [email protected], Howells agreed to match Ann and Julie’s fundraising efforts to double the amount raised.
The evening was a huge success, with dancers and supporters turning out in force to the glittering event held at the Sheffield City Hall Ballroom. The total amount raised from all dancers and from money raised on the night totalled to over £20,000.
