Trainee solicitor, Ella Collier – Phillipson, will next month complete her training contract with Howells Solicitors and become a fully qualified Solicitor in our Children Law department.
Beginning her training at Northumbria University, where Ella completed her MLaw degree including her Masters and LPC, she then returned to her home town of Doncaster to accept a training contract at Howells.
“Whilst on work experience at University, the Barrister who I was shadowing suggested that I applied for a position at Howells due to the fact the firm would suit me as they’re friendly and down to earth” Said Ella “I found Howells attractive due to its reputation as a caring firm who puts their clients first and I knew that there would be lots of opportunities due to the size and the diversity of services they offer”.
Ella started her contract in Howells by instantly taking on cases which required her to be client facing and completing training seats in the Children, Matrimonial and Immigration team.
“I wasn’t hidden in the back room only dealing with paper work and admin, I was straight into supporting clients and getting stuck in with managing my own case load. This, and the support from other fee earners in the firm, has enabled me to flourish in my role and I couldn’t imagine working anywhere else!”
Once her contract is complete in December, Ella will be working full time in the firms Children Law department, working under partner and deputy district judge, Sarah Walker.
“I have always wanted to work in Child Care Law” explains Ella “You get to work directly with clients, and try to make a real difference as this can be one of the most difficult time of someone’s life.”
