Claire Bond – Head of Human Resources

Claire Bond began her career at Howells in 2004 as a junior receptionist, at the firms Love street office, before the great flood of Sheffield happened in 2007.

“I felt very comfortable the minute I started with Howells” says Claire “and nothing has changed fifteen years later.”

After the flood and the move to the new main office on Bridge Street Claire was made head of client care. She then left her position to commence maternity leave.

“When I returned from maternity leave an opportunity came up in the HR department. I had consistently mentioned in my appraisals that in previous roles had a passion for looking after colleagues and the welfare of the team, and I would like to work in human resources. When the opportunity arose they approached me and I was delighted.”

Clare quickly became a permanent member for the HR team and is now head of the department.

“After many training courses, funded by Howells, and constant support from the Partners, fifteen years later I am now head of HR and I couldn’t be happier.

“It goes to show hard work does not go unnoticed at Howells and there is plenty of training in order to progress your career here.”

Claire is currently developing multiple training programmes in Howells, including a soon to be launched legal secretary training programme.

“I love training, and I realised there was a gap in the market in order to give people an opportunity to begin a career in law, as it is sometimes difficult to get your foot in the door. I’m very excited to begin this and welcome the chosen candidates to our already stellar secretary team.”
