Heather Smith – Head of Client Care

Heather began her career with Howells in 2005 working within the Children team as a secretary.

When an opportunity came up to cover a maternity leave on the main reception at the Sheffield office, Heather decided to use her passion and move into a role which required her to be more hands on and work face to face with clients.

“My passion and forte lies in client care” explains Heather “I find assisting clients face to face rewarding and having 100% focus on this seemed like a natural step for me.”

Heather was later promoted to senior receptionist due to her hard work and commitment in her role.

“My fondest memory of working for Howells has been my promotion to senior receptionist. I was very proud and I feel I was recognised and rewarded for my hard work over the years. Earning the respect from my colleagues and the Partners was truly a highlight.”

Heather now manages a team of 7 receptionists across Sheffield, Rotherham and Barnsley, and often has a hand in the development of client care in the business.

“I was very proud to be included in the refurbishment of the Sheffield office, and it was humbling to have my views and opinions heard by the Partners during this important development in the firm”.

After fifteen years Heather is still passionate about her role and her team, and is a very prominent part of the journey which clients take when visiting Howells.

“I absolutely love my job” Heather says “I love the people, the environment, and it’s like working for a family where there is always constant support. I’m very happy to be a part of the firm’s journey as they grow strength to strength each year.

“Howells also has a great in house training for all employees, with a wide variety of subjects on offer such as communication skills, equality and diversity, conflict management training, client care training, which is all beneficial to my career development.”
