Howells expands Wills, Trusts & Probate department and appoints new specialist

Howells are thrilled to be expanding another department this year, with the appointment of a new Wills, Trust & Probate specialist, Stephanie Chung.

Raised in Sheffield, Stephanie completed her undergraduate and post graduate degrees in Birmingham before returning to Sheffield to be with her family. “You never lose being Yorkshire at heart” Stephanie jokes “It’s a unique place and I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else.”

Before accepting the position at Howells, Stephanie had worked at a niche Sheffield law firm specialising in Wills, Powers of Attorney and Trusts for over 7 years. During her training contract she acquired experience in conveyancing, personal injury, wills and probate, landlord & tenant and insolvency. She also has experience working with industry injuries and disability discrimination.

However, for the last seven years Stephanie’s specialism and passion has focussed on working in the realms of power of attorney and the court of protection.

“What I love about working with wills and probate clients is the satisfaction of supporting them face to face. Most of the work in this area is more personal, and involves building a relationship with the client.”

“I have extensive experience of working with more mature clients, ones who may be suffering from loneliness, having little to no contact with the outside world, suffering with dementia and/or physical disabilities and illness. Dealing with a client face to face, giving piece of mind and building personal relationships is what makes this job rewarding.”

“I take personal satisfaction when I am recommended by a previous client, and when I am asked for specifically by a friend or family member.”

Stephanie joins an already established Wills, Trusts & Probate team who offer services, in making and amending a will, postal wills, powers of attorney, probate and court of protection work. The team are also active in the local community working closely with Age UK and an Alzheimer’s charity, and offering monthly seminars on planning for the future.

“I have always heard of Howells, from friends and family and in a professional capacity. Everyone knows the name Howells. When I was looking for a new opportunity I was personally recommended to Howells due to my passion for working for a caring firm and my experience of dealing with clients in a personal way.

“After my interview with Partner Lindsey Rawson, I was desperate to work for Howells as I knew I would fit in perfectly. I nearly dropped the phone with excitement when I received the call.”

When asked what sets her apart from other Solicitors Stephanie explained it’s all a matter of customer service and really understanding her clients.

“No question is ever silly” she says “No matter what, I will make sure that my clients are happy and fully understand what is happening in the future with their case. I make it my mission to remove any anxiety from a customer in relation to their case and I will build trust and confidence. I aim to give pragmatic and useful advice, tailored to my client, in a way they fully understand.”

Lindsey is absolutely delighted at being able to recruit Stephanie to further enhance the services that the Wills Trusts and Probate team are able to provide.

“Stephanie was a natural choice for us.  As well as having the requisite professional experience of working in a Wills Trust and Probate environment, her friendly and caring personality is a perfect fit with the culture, ethos and values of Howells.  We are delighted that we have been able to enhance our Wills Trusts and Probate team with Stephanie’s appointment.”
