Helen White shortlisted for Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year Awards 2018

Howells Solicitors

03 May, 2018

The Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year Awards have announced the shortlist – with Helen White from Howells Solicitors shortlisted in the Criminal Defence category.

Helen, a Chartered Legal Executive Advocate, practices in the field of criminal law, undertaking all manner of cases ranging from minor road traffic to serious crime. She has been nominated for the award due to her commitment to providing high quality criminal defence advice and representation under legal aid.

In addition to an impressive serious crime caseload, Helen has acted in a series of increasingly high profile protest cases relating to protests against tree felling in Sheffield and anti-fracking in Derbyshire and North Yorkshire. Helen has a strong regional reputation for defending in protest cases and now has a wide following and reputation in this area.

Helen has also recently been invited to be one of the founding members of the Women in Criminal Law group.

The Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year awards are now into their 16th year. They are organised by the Legal Aid Practitioners Group to recognise excellence among access to justice lawyers.

The winners will be announced by Baroness Doreen Lawrence OBE at a ceremony in central London on 17 July 2018.
