High Rankings in the Legal 500 for Howells Solicitors

The Legal 500 is an independent and impartial body that reviews professional law firms in the UK. Their ranking tier system allows individuals to see how the Legal 500 have scored the law firm in question and includes professional testimonials from peers and clients.

Howells are very proud to have 5 of our departments highly ranked in the newest edition to be published – the 2022 edition which has been published this week.

Criminal Defence Ranking

We are extremely pleased that our Criminal Defence department has once again been awarded the Legal 500 top tier 1 ranking in Sheffield and The Humber. The team are led by Partners Chris Wong and Mary Rose Macadam.

 Family Law Team Ranking

The Family Law team at Howells were ranked in the Legal 500 tier 2, with specific mentions of Partners Alyson Siddall, Sharon Lockwood and John Clegg, as well as head of Children Law Sarah Walker.

Legal 500 state “they oversee a team that is particularly well known for high net worth cases… In addition, the practice has a strong regional reputation”

Accident & Personal Injury Ranking

Our Accident & Personal Injury and Medical Negligence departments are also ranked in the Legal 500 4th tier.

Michelle Gyte was noted for being “a specialist in birth injury and fatal accidents, she oversees a team notable for it’s expertise in niche areas”. They also comment that “Notably, the firm also covers matters arising from mental health care, purported violations of the Human Rights Act and supports families during inquests”

Sharon Rinaldi, who heads up the Personal Injury team was commended for having “two decades of experience in this line of work.”

Civil Liberties & Medical Negligence Ranking

The Civil Liberties and were ranked in the Legal 500 4th tier against all firms across the UK, including London.

Civil Liberties were noted for being “active in Human Rights Act test cases in the House of Lords and Supreme Court”.
