Howells awarded new Benefits Advice contract

Howells Solicitors

14 Feb, 2014

Howells Solicitors have been awarded a new contract from the Legal Aid Agency to deliver welfare benefits advice in England and Wales.

The contract will run for 12 months and will provide access to free legal help for those in need of advice. The funding will enable Howells to deliver face to face advice to anyone in the North Region or through a dedicated telephone service nationally.

Howells is highly experienced in delivering welfare benefits advice; having previously held legal aid contracts from the LSC and helping over 26,000 clients through telephone legal advice in the last 5 years.

Project Manager and Deputy Managing Partner Sue Colven commented: “We are delighted to have been awarded this contract as there are very limited options for people to get free advice on benefits. It is also great news for Howells, as it is recognition of the high quality of our work and we are pleased that we can continue offering help and advice on welfare benefits.″

The contract will help people needing help and advice in relation to appealing against decisions made by a tribunal. To find out if you are eligible for this free specialist advice please call 0114 404 06 06.
