Howells Solicitors Successfully Ranked by the Legal 500 & Chambers and Partners

The teams at Howells Solicitors are proud and excited to have once again ranked 3 departments in both the Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners, 2023 edition, maintaining their rankings from previous years.

The Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners are independent and impartial bodies that review professional law firms in the UK. They assess the strengths of law firms based on a series of criteria’s, such as client feedback, interviews with leading private practice solicitors and barristers, and their research team review cases the law firms have worked on that year.

Criminal Defence Ranking

Our criminal defence team have ranked in band 1 in Chambers and Partners, the highest ranking available, and tier 2 in the Legal 500 Crime in South Yorkshire division. The team are led by Partners Chris Wong and Mary Rose Macadam.

Family Law Team Ranking

Our family law team maintained their tier 2 ranking in the Legal 500, and specific mentions were made of Partners Alyson Siddall, Sharon Lockwood and John Clegg. The Legal 500 stated:

Medical Negligence ranking

Our medical negligence team were ranked tier 3 in the Legal 500 and band 3 in Chambers and Partners, with specific mention of the head of department Michelle Gyte and senior solicitor Jenna Kisala.

Howells provides a broad offering, handling both serious injury cases, including birth injuries and fatalities, and more niche claims arising from transgender treatment, plastic surgery, and mental health. Senior solicitor Michelle Gyte leads the Sheffield-based practice, specialising in complex cases involving fatal accidents, dependency claims, and multiparty actions. She works alongside senior solicitor Jenna Kisala, who has a special interest in birth injury cases, fatal accidents, and inquests.
