Howells Solicitors Medical Negligence team have successfully negotiated an award of £7,500 in compensation for their client.
The client; an 82 year old woman had entered a care home after suffering a fracture to her ankle. She was to stay in the home temporarily while the injury healed and was due to undergo rehabilitation and physiotherapy before returning home.
During her stay at the residential home, the client’s family had concerns regarding the cleanliness of the rooms, and later, the cleanliness of the clients ankle cast.
A district nurse was called to assess the cast and informed the staff of the care home to return the client to the fracture clinic if there were any further concerns. The care home staff failed to do so even when the family continued to report the cast was in a dreadful state.
The client’s family had to take matters into their own hands and take her back to the hospital fracture clinic where she was finally seen to and treated properly.
After a thorough investigation, Howells Solicitors were able to negotiate an award of compensation for their client.
