Howells working together with Sheffield College

Howells Solicitors

21 Oct, 2013

Howells are delighted to be working with Sheffield College again this academic year to nurture young legal talents.

Last year Howells and Sheffield College joined forces to promote and run a Law Interest Group at the College for 16-18 year olds with a genuine interest in a legal career. This was a real success and Howells are pleased to be moving this forward again this year.

Two students from the College have been successful in applying for work placements within Howells and will be spending one day a week for the next six months with solicitors and fee earners in Sheffield.

Howells are also offering an innovative mentor scheme to the Sheffield College. Ten students will be allocated a mentor from Howells and will have a unique opportunity to find out more about the legal profession.

Pam Kenworthy, Partner at Howells, and Tom Bernard, an Employment Solicitor, will also be delivering talks throughout the year at the College as well as arranging talks from local barristers and Employment Tribunal Judges.

Tom Bernard said “we are delighted to be working with the College and helping the students to find out more about legal careers, the skills they need and how they can realise their ambitions. A career in law requires a lot of hard work and dedication. I know myself how important it can be to get experience as a student, and this scheme provides a great opportunity for the students at Sheffield to get that experience.”
