Family Law Solicitor, Ramandeep Kaur, joined Howells Solicitors in May 2021 as a Paralegal. Two years on and Ramandeep has now qualified as a Solicitor and working in the expanding Matrimonial Law team based in Sheffield.
Prior to joining Howells, Ramandeep had worked in Matrimonial law in other law firms. During her training she gained experience working in the Children Law, Medical Negligence and Personal Injury teams here at Howells.
Before choosing to apply for her training contract at Howells, Ramandeep carried out research and was attracted to Howells due to the large and vast amounts of departments on offer, meaning she would have lots of variety and opportunities for wider experience during training.
She was also attracted to Howells for the fact that the firm focused on inward progression and the support on offer within the firm. It was also important for Ramandeep to choose a firm that is diverse and inclusive.
“Howells is an amazing place to work” Ramandeep said “Everyone, including all partners, are approachable and operate an open-door policy.”
“You can always ask for work to be checked by any colleague and feel comfortable doing so.”
During her training, Ramandeep worked on some complex Children Law cases “A typical day during my training was not only working simply fee earning, but working on complex public law children and clinical negligence cases. This resulted in me shadowing counsel, attending court, working alongside barristers against local authorities, preparing advice for clients before and after court and offering face to face support with clients. I also had the opportunity of representing clients in Court”.
“A particular career highlight has been working on a Child Abduction case in the High Court and working closely with Counsel to achieve the best possible outcome for the client. A truly invaluable experience for a trainee.”
Now qualified, Ramandeep works full time as a Matrimonial Solicitor, working on divorce, separation, associated financial matters and cases involving children. She will be based in the busy Sheffield office on Bridge Street.
