Sarah Smith is a Solicitor (Scottish Qualified) in the Immigration team at Howells Solicitors. She is based at the Sheffield office.
Sarah graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 2006 with Joint Honours in Law and Spanish.
She subsequently completed a Reprieve internship with the Gulf Region Advocacy Centre (GRACE) in Texas, representing defendants facing the death penalty. After completing her Diploma in Legal Practice she trained at a large personal injury firm. She subsequently worked as an immigration solicitor in Glasgow before moving to Sheffield.
Sarah practises in all areas of immigration, asylum and nationality law. She is accredited as a Senior Caseworker under the Law Society’s Immigration & Asylum Accreditation Scheme. She has extensive experience in entry clearance and leave to remain applications and appeals under Appendix FM of the Immigration Rules, EEA applications, British citizenship applications and asylum and human rights related matters. She has a particular interest in representing Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children. She has appeared in the First Tier Tribunal and Upper Tribunal of the Immigration and Asylum Chamber in asylum, human rights and EEA appeals.
She also speaks fluent French and Spanish.
