Care Home Neglect

Care / Nursing Home Claims

We put a great deal of trust in the care homes that look after us and our loved ones, but unfortunately if standards slip, negligence can occur.

If you or a relative have been treated in a care or nursing home which has led to injuries being caused or a condition worsening, then there may be a claim for medical negligence arising out of the treatment received.

Our care home negligence solicitors are also experts in representing the families of those who have passed away at inquests held, to investigate the circumstances giving rise to their death.

What are the Most Common Types of Care Home Neglect?

Our Medical Negligence team are here for clients who have had a range of injuries caused by poor treatment in care or nursing homes, such as:

  • Pressure ulcers and sores
  • Medication and prescription errors
  • Delayed treatment and referral for specialist treatment
  • Injuries from falls and handling errors
  • Injuries from deliberate neglect or abuse

Why Choose our Care Home Negligence Solicitors

We will advise on the merits of every medical negligence claim brought to us and regardless of its size, complexity or impact, we’ll give each one the care and attention it deserves.

Care Home Neglect FAQs

Can I Claim from a Care Home?

Whether you can pursue a claim against the care home is down to whether the standard of care is deemed negligent and whether your loved one has suffered as a result. If this is the case, we can look to pursue a claim.

What is Neglect in a Care Home?

Examples of neglect in a care home include: not changing a resident’s clothes or bedding regularly, not cleaning a resident regularly, not giving residents enough food or water, and not treating a resident’s injuries.

When Shall I Make a Care Home Neglect Claim?

Generally, a care home claim should be made within three years from the date the negligence occurred, or when you were first made aware of a significant injury or illness due to negligence. However, there are some exceptions.

Very simply, they want to give people the best possible chance of continuing their lives with the requisite financial and medical support.

Personally, they are down to earth, friendly and approachable people whom you can talk to and confide in. They’ve seen most things and understand how these traumatic incidents can devastate lives, gauging the true cost of the physical, psychological and emotional damage sustained. They will listen and encourage and then use their technical skills to translate everything that they’ve heard and felt into positive action for you.
