Motoring Offences

Motoring Offence Solicitors

If you have been accused of a motoring offence that will affect your licence, we are here to help.

Sometimes a motoring offence may be minor, at other times it can be far more serious with potentially devastating consequences. If you have received a summons or Notice of Intended Prosecution or have been contacted by the police our criminal defence specialists can advise you on the best course of action to take.

It is always best to contact us immediately as some options, such as driver awareness courses, are not available once a court date has been set.

How our Driving Offence Solicitors Can Help

If you have been summoned to court, our driving offence solicitors can provide you with information on the likely outcome of your case and defend you in court, especially if you face a driving ban/disqualification.

We will check that the correct procedures have been followed and advise upon the strength of the case against you. Even if you are pleading guilty, it is still important to contact us. Many cases can be defended in a way to reduce or avoid penalties such as losing your licence.

If you have received a Notice of Intended Prosecution (NIP) or a Court Summons, it is important that you contact us immediately. If you are being investigated, it is important that you get the advice you need before you are interviewed.

Motoring Offence Solicitors FAQs

Is a Driving Offence a Criminal Offence?

Yes, a driving offence is a criminal offence, and it will go on your record. However, unlike some more serious crimes, a criminal record for a motoring conviction does not stay with you for life.

Can I Get a Job with a Driving Conviction?

Your current role and future career aspects could be impacted by a driving conviction. This will depend on your job role, as well as the severity of the offence.

What is a Minor Motoring Offence?

The police can give you a fixed penalty notice for less serious traffic offences. This includes careless or inconsiderate driving, not wearing a seat belt, or using a mobile phone while driving.

What Do Our
Clients Say?

“I want to express my gratitude and thanks to Chris Wong who dealt with a motoring matter for me. He was helpful and sorted out a stressful situation quickly. Very much appreciated and highly recommended Chris and Howells"

Motoring Client, Nov 2018

I would like to send you a huge thank you for supporting me through my case and playing your part in getting the final outcome. You was absolutely fantastic and thank you for believing in me. You really are incredible at your job. We got the best possible outcome for the circumstances and you made that happen. I am so happy I came to you. I was really worried about being in that situation as it was new to me but had confidence because I wasn’t guilty on both original charges. I know I have to be very careful at driving due to the points situation but I’m confident I’ll be ok with it as I am a careful driver. A ban would have been devastating, you really saved me there.
