How Our Taxi Licensing Solicitors Can Help
The relevant council may consider revoking an existing taxi license for various reasons. It could be because of a criminal conviction, the accumulation of penalty points, or unproven allegations or complaints from a member of the public. Sometimes, during this decision, you may be invited to a panel hearing. At this stage, legal representation is crucial.
Our specialists can provide the best possible advice either on the strength of the case against you, or on how to improve the case you wish to bring, check that the correct procedures have been followed and follow that up with representation at the Town Hall or in Court.
Our taxi licensing solicitors will meet with you to discuss the case, obtain full details of what is in dispute, listen to and then advise you of the best way to respond to the situation. We can continue to provide you with the help and advice needed throughout the whole investigation.
Can I Appeal the Decision of the Council?
If your taxi license is revoked or refused by the council, you can appeal to the local Magistrates’ Court. The appeal must be lodged within 21 days of receiving the letter confirming the revocation or refusal.
We can prepare the appear notice on your behalf, however, we can only advise on the prospects of success once we know all the facts. An appeal may succeed if it is clear the council have not followed their own policy or have made an error.
