The death of a family member is always distressing.  Your stress will only increase if there are inheritance disputes where the validity of the deceased’s Will is challenged or if claims are made by others for a portion of the estate.

If a family member has either not left you any gift in their estate or perhaps, a gift is not what you were expecting it to be, you may be able to challenge the Will.  The main way to make a claim against an estate is under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975.  This law sets out different groups of people who are entitled to make a claim against the deceased person’s estate.
